Liverpool Extinction Rebellion group have staged a Disco-Rebellion dance flash mob today throughout the city to raise awareness of the climate change emergency before the general election.
The group will jive to the Bee Gee’s hit ‘Stayin’ Alive’ as a fun way to get across a serious message that the planet is fast running out of time to halt catastrophic climate change.
The flash-mob movement was inspired by dance protests that took place in Melbourne, Australia and comes as 2019 is set to be in the top three warmest years on record.
Event organiser, Ruth Vincent-Jones said: “It is obvious there must be immediate and drastic action on a scale not seen in the UK since the last world war.
“Our plea is that on election day we all vote without consciences for the politicians who will respond best to the emergency.”
Liverpool XR was set up earlier this year following protests in London and is dedicated to putting on more events that raise awareness of the fight against climate change.
