With the decline of the high street amidst Brexit chaos and economic instability, charity shops have seen a boost in sales in recent months. Families facing a penny-pinching Christmas are seeking out quality second-hand furniture and household items.

Lung cancer is one of the most common and most serious types of cancer. It’s extremely difficult to diagnose given that there are usually no signs or symptoms in the early stages.

1 in 13 UK males and 1 in 15 females will be diagnosed with lung cancer in their lifetime. 79% of lung cancer cases in the UK are preventable.

Jemma Bainbridge, whose Mother passed away from Lung Cancer five years ago, will be proudly participating in the Great North Run this Sunday.

“Mam's diagnosis shocked us to the core. At just 56, she

was very healthy and very fit. She went for long walks

most days. She had a walking app on her phone and

would always be so excited if she'd beaten her personal

best! She is not someone who you would ever think to

get lung cancer - but she did and it took her so, so

quickly.”

Charities like Roy Castle work towards developing cancer

research and providing support for families suffering with

the disease. As part of its Christmas campaign, the charity

is urging people to use the hashtag #letsroll in a bid to

improve lung cancer survival rates.

The local Crosby store sells everything from vintage clothes to Christmas decorations. Rather than spending your money in branded stores, why not be charitable this Christmas and pick your free CD with any purchase.
